Crime prevention at Alton Cars Ltd
Alton Cars Ltd. were once again the target of one of our latest policed events, this time taking place at their site in Mansfield. Three people were seen approaching a car that had been left in a parking space outside the staff entrance. Of these, one retrieved a sledgehammer from the boot of the vehicle, eliciting audio warnings from our operators, who speedily liaised with the police and a keyholder. The armed man then made off to the opposite side of the road, out of view of the cameras, and returned shortly after to rejoin his fellows, now without his weapon.
Whatever the man’s intention might have been, the potential for violence was very much apparent. In recent years, the UK has seen a steady increase in the rate of violent crime. Between 2017 and 2018 alone, the number of violent crimes rose by almost 20%. The statistics do not bode well for the future, and so it is imperative that we take a hypervigilant stance against any activity that might arouse suspicion.
In no small part due to our operators’ interference, the suspicious trio were driven away from the premises and Alton Cars were spared any criminal damages. Footage of the event was sent to both the installer and the police as evidence. Should the bandits dare to return, they are likely to be easily identified, and can expect to be quickly arrested for carrying an offensive weapon and conspiring to trespass on a PSM-protected property.
BETWEEN 2017 AND 2018 ALONE, THE NUMBER OF VIOLENT CRIMES ROSE BY ALMOST 20%
