Working as an operator in PSM’s control room is a job unlike any other. It’s a perfect fit for someone like myself, who feels good when doing good things for other people. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home; as an operator, I have an opportunity to give homeowners and families their rightful peace of mind, and I have a personal stake in our clients’ protection and security—not just because it’s my responsibility as part of my occupation, but because I don’t want to see people suffer at the hands of criminals. So, from my perspective, that human element is a really important part of the job.
Since our whole team is comprised of people who really care about others, and who enjoy making each other feel good about what we do, it goes without saying that the chances of our clients’ security being compromised are a lot less than they would be if that wasn’t the case.
It’s also fascinating to be involved in the constantly changing industry that is remote monitoring. I’m a bit of a techie, so having first-hand experience of using the wide variety of cameras and software, getting to grips with their functions, and gaining insight into different kinds of security equipment and their uses (as well as newly emerging technologies) is endlessly interesting to me. It’s an exciting world to be a part of, when you get down to it, and it’s made all the more enjoyable when you’re a part of something as special as the PSM team.
